New writing commissions for future shows and long-term participation projects.
A new play by Sid Sagar, Biting Point is a story that asks big questions about race, class and privilege. It is about the people in our community and how the constant pressure we’re all under can shape us into people we don’t want to be. All this will be told in Middle Child’s unique style, taking high-quality, bold new writing and placing audiences at the heart of the experience.
Biting Point is supported by Without Walls Blueprint R&D, developed with the support of the National Theatre Generate Programme, Davina Moss, Tessa Walker, Jennifer Davis and Roy Williams.
The second edition of our annual playwriting festival, which will commission seven writers, all with a meaningful connection to Hull, to write plays of varying lengths to be performed script-in-hand at Stage@TheDock. The festival will also feature a jam-packed programme of industry talks and writing workshops.
Applications for the seven commissions have now closed and the successful writers will be announced in January 2025.
