Bond 31: A creative hub for making theatre in Hull

Middle Child’s home is in the Bond 31 warehouse at 42-43 High Street in Hull.

Our creative hub includes a rehearsal space, theatre library, writing room and self-tape recording room, all open to use for residents of Hull and the East Riding.

Our space spans two suites running the length of the ground floor of the warehouse, which is also shared by other creative organisations, including Freedom Festival, State of the Arts Academy and Studio McGuire.

Opening hours

Tuesday-Friday, 9am-5pm.

Rehearsal Room

Our spacious, light and airy rehearsal room, complete with a dance mat floor, is available to hire when not in use by Middle Child.

There is a raised stage, stacked chairs, TV with HDMI input and pop-up tables available within the room which you are welcome to use if available.

Hire includes access to adjoining kitchen and breakout spaces, as well as our self-tape recording room.

The rehearsal room is offered on a pay what you can basis, with a suggested fee of £100 per week. If cost is a barrier to you, please get in touch.

Writing Room

Our writing room is a free-to-hire space in our Theatre Library, which can be booked from as little as an hour, to a full-day or even whole week.

The room includes a table, chairs and sofa, with soft lighting, making it an ideal retreat for focusing on your latest draft. It also includes free wifi.

Self-Tape Recording Room

Our self-tape recording room is a free-to-use space, which features sound-dampening, lighting and video recording equipment for recording self-tapes. It can also be used for video meetings and online auditions.

This facility was made possible with funding from the Equity Charitable Trust.

Theatre Library

Our Theatre Library is a collection of over 2,000 scripts and theatre reference books, available to borrow for free, to any resident of Hull and the East Riding.

It includes a table and chairs, which can be used as a hot desking space with access to free, full-fibre wifi.

We do not operate a booking system, however we do occasionally close the library, such as during rehearsal periods. We advise checking our social media accounts or calling the office first to check before visiting.

See our separate page for more details about our library.
