How long is it?
Baby, He Loves You lasts for approximately 2hrs 15mins, including an interval (break). This time was updated on Wednesday 10 April, in the fourth week of rehearsals.
Who is it suitable for?
Our recommended age guidance for Baby, He Loves You is 16+ but this is advisory only. See below for content warnings.
Does the show come with any content warnings?
Yes, it features strong language, misogyny, descriptions of sexual assault and sexual harassment. We have created a detailed plot summary page, explaining what happens in each scene.
Does the show contain any strobe lighting?
No, but it may contain flashing lights and haze. We will be able to share more specific updates nearer the performance.
What time does the show start?
The show will start at 7pm every evening. There are also performances at 1pm on Saturday 20, Sunday 21, Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 April.
What time do doors open?
45-minutes before the scheduled start time. We encourage people to arrive early to find their seat.
Where is the venue?
Stage@TheDock is an outdoor amphitheatre at the mouth of the River Hull, opposite The Deep and part of the C4DI complex. It is accessed from Humber Street and the postcode is HU1 1UU. The performance will take place in a marquee built on Stage@TheDock.
Is the performance outdoors?
The performance will take place inside a weather-proof marquee especially built for the occasion. However evenings may still be chilly, so we encourage people to dress accordingly.
Where will I sit?
The audience will be seated at round tables, like you may find at a wedding. We will allocate audience members to specific tables, with a seating plan on display as you arrive at the marquee. Large groups may be split-up, however we will try to keep people sat together. If you need to sit with a friend, family member or carer, please let us know when booking your ticket by leaving a note in the provided comment box.
How much are tickets?
Tickets are available from £15, with a suggested price of £20. Audience members can choose how much they would like to pay for a ticket, all the way up to £100, with those who choose and are able to pay a higher fee making it possible for us to keep prices lower for other people. Read more about this decision in our blog post.

Can I dress up?
Yes, we encourage it, but there is no expectation to do so – whatever you feel most comfortable wearing.
Where can I park my car?
The nearest car park is the Fruit Market Multi-Storey car park. Vehicles can enter from Blackfriargate and the pedestrian entrance is across the road from Stage@TheDock, by a zebra crossing.
Does the venue have wheelchair access?
Yes. Wheelchair access down to the marquee is available via a lift and we will have staff and volunteers available to direct you if required.
Is there a bar?
Yes, a bar will be available inside the marquee, run by Taphouse of Humber Street.
Is there a breakout area?
There are lots of open spaces in the complex around the marquee and Stage@TheDock that you can easily and quickly access during the performance.
Is there a relaxed performance?
No, however movement is welcome throughout this performance and staff can lead you to a dedicated quiet space should you wish to leave at any time.
Is there a BSL-interpreted performance?
Yes. Both performances on Saturday 27 April, at 1pm and 7pm, will be interpreted by Sarah Cox.
What other access provisions are there?
All performers will use microphones and an induction loop for hearing aids will be available.
Does the venue have toilets?
Toilets, including accessible toilets, are available at Nibble, next door to Stage@TheDock. Middle Child will have a key to access the toilets at all time, even when the cafe is closed.
Do I need to print my ticket?
No, you can simply share the name of the person who booked the tickets on the door, but we ask you to have the e-ticket to hand on your phone or another device, in case of any queries. People do occasionally book under different names or even for the wrong performance.
Is there a break or interval?
Yes, approximately halfway through the show. During this break the marquee will be lit-up and audience members will be able to mingle and go to the bar, to the toilet or outside for any reason.
I’ve never been to see a play before, what can I expect?
We have created a separate guide to what to expect, which covers what the venue is like, how you will be seated, how tickets are managed and what the ‘rules’ are for audiences.
