How long is it?
Red Riding Hood is approximately 1hr 40mins, including an interval.
Who is it suitable for?
Red Riding Hood is a family show most suitable for children aged 4+, however many younger children enjoy the lights, music, sound and silliness.
Any child requiring a seat requires their own ticket, however babes in arms are welcome. All children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
The late-night shows (see below) are strictly 18+ and ID may be required.
What’s the difference between the family and late-night shows?
Our late-night version is for adults only: a chance to leave the kids at home and enjoy a Christmas night out with your supposedly grown-up mates. The script is the same, except we sprinkle more risqué jokes and ad libs in there, the likes of which are not suitable for younger ears. Late-night shows are for strictly 18+ audiences.
What time does the show start?
Start times vary, but are listed on the show pages for the family and late-night performances, as well as the ticket booking pages. Please check your tickets after purchase if you have any doubts.
When do doors open?
Doors open 45 minutes before the advertised start time. Please make sure you arrive at the venue in good time for the performance so that you can get comfortable for the show. Seating is unreserved and we kindly ask that you fill the venue from the front.
Where is the venue?
Social is approximately halfway down Humber Street in Hull’s Fruit Market, next to Humber Street Gallery.
How can I get there?
Public transport is limited in the exact area but Humber Street is just short of a 20 minute walk from the Paragon Interchange station, or is a 10 minute walk from the closest bus stops on Carr Lane and Alfred Gelder Street near Queens Gardens.
Where can I park my car?
The Fruit Market multi-storey car park is the nearest car park, accessed from Blackfriargate. The postcode for your satnav is HU1 1AW. There is also some free, but very limited on-street parking in the Fruit Market area.
Can I buy tickets on the door?
Yes, provided the performance has not sold out in advance. Please check Middle Child social media accounts on the day of the performance for updates on sold out shows.
Are there refreshments?
Yes. Social stock a variety of beers, wines, spirits, hot drinks and soft drinks, as well as sweets and ice cream. They will also be serving hot dogs, including vegan options. They accept both cash and card.
Do we have specific seats?
No, our seating is unreserved. We ask you kindly to fill seats from the front, with places reserved for BSL and wheelchair users. There is no restricted view seating in the venue – all audience members will be able to see the performers on stage.
Do you have any booster seats?
Sadly not, but you are welcome to bring a cushion or your own.
Does the venue have wheelchair access?
Yes, there is level access. Humber Street itself is cobbled with a wide flat, paved area either side. If you have any specific needs please contact us ahead of your visit.
Please note wheelchair spaces are limited and must be booked in advance by contacting Hull Truck Theatre directly, after purchasing a Disabled ticket. Hull Truck Theatre are providing box office services for this production.
Can I reserve seats for the BSL performances so I can see the interpreter?
Yes. A separate BSL ticket is available for BSL-interpreted performances that will reserve a space with a clear view of the interpreter.
Do you have free carer tickets?
Yes. We have a limited number of free, no-questions-asked, additional tickets for audience members who require an essential companion. To claim the ticket, please add both a disabled and standard ticket to your basket, then apply the essential companion discount code on the Event Summary ‘Basket’ page. This will then convert the standard ticket to a free one.
Do you have family tickets?
We discontinued the family ticket in 2021, instead keeping prices across all tickets as low as possible.
Do you offer concession prices?
Yes, we offer 17-18 year old, student, NHS, disabled, income-related benefits and over 65s concession price on our tickets which can be applied at checkout.
Can I store my buggy or pram?
Yes, there is limited space available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Is there a breakout area?
There is a quieter space in the bar area, however this is not a separate room.
Is there a relaxed performance?
We do not have a quiet relaxed performance, but we do have a limited number of ear defenders to borrow. All of our performances are relaxed in so far as noise and movement are welcome in the audience throughout.
Do you do birthday shoutouts?
We do! Give your names to a member of staff on the door as you enter. We do not take shoutouts in advance.
Covid 19: What measures are you taking?
We will be following current government guidelines. You can find the most up-to-date regulations on the government website.
We ask that you do not attend if you are testing positive.
What happens if I can’t attend?
If you or a member of your party are unable to attend the performance, tickets can be exchanged for an alternative date of the same show (if available) providing you have contacted Hull Truck Theatre Box Office more than 24hrs before the show.
If there are no other available performances we can attempt to sell on your tickets, provided we have 24hrs notice. Our own unsold tickets will take priority. If we are able to sell on your tickets you will be refunded minus a £1.50 admin fee.
Please note: the Box Office closes at 5pm each day.
What happens if a show is cancelled?
If the performance is cancelled, customers will be entitled to a full refund minus 75p per ticket admin fee and tickets will be automatically refunded to the original payment method. See our terms and conditions for more details.
What is a solidarity ticket?
These are tickets we offer to local charity and community groups, so that people who otherwise wouldn’t get to enjoy a Christmas show can attend our panto for free, supported by generous donations from our audience. You will be given the opportunity to make a contribution when booking your own tickets.
