After a successful pilot festival over the weekend of 20-21 July, applications are now open for playwrights to apply for a paid commission at next year’s Fresh Ink: Hull Playwriting Festival.
Middle Child are looking to commission writers with a variety of experiences, who have a meaningful connection to the city of Hull and can demonstrate why their work makes sense appearing in a festival that develops grassroots work in the city.
What you write about is up to you, but we’re looking for stories that speak to contemporary Hull. They don’t need to be set here, or about here, but they do need to say something to the people that live here.
Seven commissions are available: two 70-minute commissions, two 30-minute commissions and three five-minute monologues.
Visit our Fresh Ink page to learn more about each commission and how to apply, before the deadline of Tuesday 10 September 2024.
The Middle Child Writers’ Group will also return in January 2025. This introduction to playwriting course will lead to participants writing scenes to be performed by professional actors at Fresh Ink 2025.
